The W8LAP D-Star repeater now automatically connects to Reflector 89C throughout the day. This reflector serves southeast Michigan and other D-Star repeaters in the region. The K8DXA repeater in Lake Orion and the WA8BRO repeater in Warren are also connected to this reflector on a regular basis.
If the repeater is not currently in use, anyone may chose to link the W8LAP repeater to any other D-Star reflector at anytime – and is welcome to do so. The repeater will continue to automatically link to REF024A on Monday evenigns at 8:00pm ET for the Michigan ARES D-Star Net.
WA8BRO has successfully launched their second Linux Gateway. This gateway is hosting the new REF089 Reflector. It Is housed in a different commercial location from the WA8BRO repeater Site. This was done for security reasons and redundancy of the internet connection. The reflector gateway is running from a commercial internet account.
REF089A will be reserved for ARES, SKYWARN and Michigan Emergency Communications only. WA8BRO will be offering this to this to the Michigan ARES group as a backup to 24A.
REF089C will be used for Metro Detroit and southeastern Michigan general use.
