Meeting Minutes – November 8, 2022
Meeting started @ 19:31 with 15 in attendance.
Presentation:
Tim Crane WM8A Assistant State Auxcomm for Michigan.
Tim sees certification will be required for public service in the future.
Definition of Auxcomm:
Organizations and personnel which provide various types of emergency communication support to emergency management, public safety, and other government agencies. Services are typically voluntary, commonly provided by amateur radio communicators and other supporting organizations.
Auxcomm is organization neutral.
To be qualified – Training is a 2-day 20-hour class. Contact Kevin if interested in pursuing training.
FEMA independent study IS100, IS200, IS700, IS800 to get started, these are prerequisites to classes.

Hospital: Lee starting physical therapy.
General:
Dec-4 Swap @ Balkan American Community Center, Troy.
Mike KN8Z has “stuff” to give, lost his connection to Toys for Tots, seeking alternate donation locations.
Pres: Redoing shack, putting up needed antennas.
VP: None
Sec: Myles KE8RDB read minutes. Motioned to accept by Rob N8PSP, seconded by Dick KC8VHA.
Treasurer: Total balance – $5456.44. Motioned to accept by Larry N8LJN, seconded by Mike KN8Z.
Repeater: Audio fluctuations, wrong time, and wrong status has been resolved by firmware update.
Scott N8XP had a signal on the radio that ended up being a DTE identifier in CW.
CMEN to supply internet to the Club Repeater via the Hospital.
Emergency Coord: Scott N8XP will lead programming Microtech modems to gain access to MI6. Plan is to update firmware and program with callsign.
Old business:
Training to start in the first quarter of 2023 for a Technician license.
2 grants have been submitted at the moment to ARRL and ARDC.
Membership went from 33 members down to 20.
2023 Board meetings have been moved to one hour before club meetings in the months of January, April, July, and October. All members welcome @ 6pm.
Tower renewal through Lapeer community schools is still on hold.
New business:
A Christmas party will be held at Sidetracks @ 6pm in a private room. Families are welcome to attend.
Winter field day is Jan 28-29. May be held at the Cypress building. Club is looking for a coordinator, Kevin KB8TAR volunteered.
