Meeting Minutes – July 9, 2019
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm. There were 16 members and guests in attendance.
As previously reported our past president and long time member of LCARA, Bob Erskine W8RAE, passed away. A moment of silence was held in his honor.
The evening’s presentation was “Bermuda 2019” the radio and sightseeing exploits of the VP9 DXpedition crew.
Hospital Report:
Yolanda KC8WGK and Mike W8YRC are recovering from their respective medical procedures.
General Announcements:
Our August meeting will be held at Cramton Park starting at 6:30pm. Look for us at the south side pavilion. Bring a project to show and your antenna analyzer.
Elections will be held at our September meeting. Email your nominations to QSO@W8LAP.COM
Tuscola County is holding a trunk swap on August 10th from 8am till 1 pm.
LCARA Incorporation is almost complete. A list of association assets was provided to the state.
Secretary’s Report:
Meeting minutes from June were read and unanimously accepted by the membership present.
Treasures Report:
The treasury status was presented and unanimously approved by the membership present.
Repeater Trustee Report: All equipment working fine.
EC Report:
St Clare County has a new EC, Bob K8WMW. Kevin KB8TAR offered assistance setting up their packet station K8EPV-7 on 145.07 Mhz. They have outstanding coverage so the Lapeer ARES team reset our local packet frequencies at the EOC and repeater site to 145.07 Mhz.
On July 10th Kevin will attend a state wide EC meeting in Harrison, MI.
The next ARES meeting will be July 17th.
Webmaster Report:
Website is functioning well with a lot of hits. There are 55 registered D-Star users.
There was discussion on feasibility of listing some of the donated radio equipment on our site.
Field Day Results:
303 QSO’s, Formal message to ARRL section manager, Social media
Total of 856 points.
And the bacon was GREAT!
Gerret again offered his QTH as the site for the LCARA 2020 Field Day.
Robo-Con SES:
Antenna set up will be Thursday July 18th about 5 pm.
Stations, computers and demonstration pieces set ups on Friday.
W8A – SES starts 8 am Saturday July 20th and runs till 5 pm.
On Saturday, volunteers needed to operate stations and to explain amateur radio as a STEM resource to the visitors attending the Robo-Con event.
Scott N8XP made a request for funding to include banners, QSL cards, and other items that may be necessary for this event. A motion was made to authorize up to $350 to cover expenditures for this event. The motion was seconded then unanimously approved by the membership present.
50/50 was won by Bill KD8VP.
