Hello LCARA members and supporters!
Welcome to autumn in this great state of Michigan. Pumpkin Spice…everything…is appearing in stores, the evenings are growing crisp, and the warm glow of a radio is calling from the shack. The time for antenna work is growing short, and the days shorter.
If you received the September edition of “Dale’s Tales” (our ARRL Michigan section newsletter), you may have noticed a powerful commentary on the overall health of radio clubs. It’s worth a read, and although it’s in part directed at club leadership, it holds a reminder for all of us – our clubs are what we make them. With that in mind, LCARA exists for its members, and if you have interests and ideas about enhancing LCARA’s positive impact on the area ham radio scene, let us know. Here are a few ways to share your voice: talk to an officer, speak up at a meeting, send us an email at qso@w8lap.com, or join the Tuesday night radio net.
Events and Activities
With that in mind, I’m happy to report that LCARA has been contributing to the hobby; club members operated a special event station at ROBO-CON this summer, along with a variety of public service events. The LCARA board (elected officers and newsletter/communication manager, appointed) meet quarterly, and the State of Michigan accepted our incorporation papers as a non-profit.
Club Elections – September 10th
The next club meeting will host the elections for the 2019-2020 term. I hope you’ll be able to join us to ensure the club has strong leaders for the next year.
