Meeting Minutes March 12, 2019
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm by President Gerret KD8YUK. There were 19 members and guests in attendance.
Kevin KB8TAR was this evenings speaker and presented an overview on APRS (Automated Packet Reporting System) describing the system and some usages of this technology.
Hospital Report- None reported. Dan KC1BUD reported he had Type A Influenza but was no longer infectious.
Secretary Report- Minutes from the February meeting were read and unanimously approved by the membership present.
Treasures Report- Financial statement was presented by Paul AB8XL and unanimously approved by the membership present.
EC Report- Lapeer County will not participate in Michigan’s tornado siren drill on March 27. The next ARES meeting will focus on lessons learned from the past two exercises. Lapeer County Skywarn training will be on March 26, 7:30 at the PIX Theater. Kevin is looking for communication volunteers for the Big Fish triathlon on May 26.
Repeater Trustee Report- No technical issues reported. The clock time will be reset to daylight saving time and the “D-Star” repeater message will be minimized or deleted.
Webmaster Report- Scott N8XP reported the site is running well. Expects to add additional features for LCARA. Google analytics is turned on so we can count website hits.
General Announcement- Genesee County Skywarn Training March 30, 10 am Genesee County Administration building Room G-25.
Gerret thanked those members who helped out at our table at the Livonia swap.
Next months’ presentation will be “Mobile Installations” by Paul AB8XL.
New Business- Field Day planning will begin. It will be at Gerret’s QTH. June’s presentation will be about Field Day preparations.
There will be a board meeting Saturday March 16, 3pm at Leo’s Lapeer discussing incorporation documentation.
50/50 was won by Mike KN8Z.
LCARA received a donation of Morse Code Keys from the estate of Nancy WZ8C. A secondary drawing of the 50/50 tickets will allow the winner to select one of the keys.
