Meeting Minutes – May 14, 2019
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm by President Gerret KD8YUK. There were 16 members and guests in attendance.
Our evenings’ presentation was “Preparations for Portable Operations” by Will KB8YGA. It included tips for station and software preparation and items to consider if you need to take your radio equipment on a commercial airline.
Hospital Report: No one reported as ill.
General Announcements: Arrow Radio Club still has openings available for the bus trip to the Hamvention.
Gordon N8GMM is looking for presentations to fill next season’s meetings. Please contact him if you are willing or know someone willing to do a presentation.
Field Day is coming and will be held at Gerret’s QTH. He will make a presentation at the June meeting.
Secretary Report: Minutes from the April meeting were read by Lee N8LJ and unanimously approved by the membership present.
Treasures Report: Monthly financial report as read by Paul AB8XL, was unanimously approved by the membership present.
Repeater Trustee Report: There was no Repeater Trustee report and no one reported any repeater issues.
EC Report: Kevin KB8TAR mentioned the next ARES meeting will be May 15 at 7pm. On the agenda will be a report of the Great Lakes Homeland Security conference that he attended. There will be no June meeting.
Kevin needs volunteers to support the Big Fish Triathlon on May 26. Time commitment will be approximately between 8 AM and 11 AM.
Web Master Report: Scott N8XP reports our analytics are operational so we know how many web hits we get. We have about 60 people registered under our D-Star account.
Program Report: Gordon N8GMM reports that June’s presentation will be LCARA Field Day by Gerret KD8YUK, July’s presentation will be antenna analyzer comparisons. August will be the club picnic, September’s presentation will be Bermuda 2019 by Lee N8LJ.
Old Business: LCARA will support Robo-Con held at the old Lapeer West High School on July 20, 8 am to 5 pm. We hope to have 2 HF stations and D Star on the air. We’ll need volunteers to operate and explain amateur radio to the visitors. This event is chaired by Scott N8XP and Lee N8LJ. More information to follow.
Incorporation papers for LCARA are completed and signed. The membership present motioned and approved its submission to the state. Once approved by the state, we can proceed with feasibility negotiations to move our repeater site to the SMILE FM tower and investigate potential grants.
Scott N8XP won the 50/50.
